About the Tour

Satpura literally means Seven Mountains! The valleys here, with their breathtaking landscapes, lie like a forgotten poem. The mountains stand tall, draped in thick vegetation, with streams weaving through them, bringing life to the hidden souls of the forest.  It’s one of the few reserves in India that offers walking safaris, canoeing, and boat safaris, providing a pallet of experiences. For those, seeking a sanctuary of serenity as well as adventure, Satpura offers both.

Highlights

  • Spanning over 1,400 sq. km., it is one of the key wildlife habitats in central India.
  • Majestic sandstone peaks which provide a majestic look to the landscape
  • Home to the unique albino Gaurs
  • Known for frequent sightings of Sloth Bears
  • During summers, small islands form in the Tawa reservoir which play host to nests of Indian Skimmers

The Footloose Factor

Satpura is a part of one of the largest Tiger habitats in the world extending over 10,000 sq.km. along with forest areas of Betul, Harda, Khandwa and Melghat forest divisions. With us, you will get to deep dive into understanding the critical role of corridors in connecting different habitats for wildlife movement, and how these pathways are vital for the long-term survival of species like tigers and leopards.

Important Note

  • TIPPING –Local guides, jeep drivers, and resort staff play an important role in making your safari experience memorable. We encourage our campers to consider tipping them as a token of appreciation since it does not just reward them, but also supports their livelihood.
  • Only a limited number of safari vehicles are allowed to enter the forest each day and available safari slots get full well in advance. It is advisable to plan 4 months in advance to get hassle free safari bookings in desired zones.
  • Camp fees will be revised in case any changes are made by Forest Departments, guides, gypsy owners etc. in their fees.
  • Any change in the dates will affect the camp fees since different safari rates are applicable for weekends and weekdays.
