About the Tour

Dudhwa and Pilibhit Tiger Reserve, nestled in the lush Terai region of Uttar Pradesh, offer a rare glimpse into a landscape teeming with biodiversity. These reserves are part of the Terai Arc Landscape and are characterized by dense Sal forests, vast grasslands, and interconnected wetlands, making them some of the most diverse and wildlife-rich habitats in India.

Spanning over 1,200 sq. km., Dudhwa is home to some of the last remaining swamp deer (Barasingha) populations in the world. The reserve, with its mix of grasslands, riverine belts, and dense forests, supports a thriving tiger population.

Located along the India-Nepal border, Pilibhit is a critical corridor for wildlife movement between India and Nepal. With more than 750 sq. km. of dense forests, this reserve is renowned for its high tiger density, making it one of India’s most successful tiger conservation stories.

These twin wildernesses offer a unique experience of the terai ecosystem and offer spectacular opportunities to observe wildlife in its natural habitat.

Highlights

  • Offbeat and less crowded wildlife destinations
  • Opportunity to see wildlife of three types of habitats – woodlands, grasslands, and wetlands
  • Amazing diversity of birds, making it a great place for birdwatchers
  • Seasonal movement of elephants adds to the richness of the jungle

The Footloose Factor

Eco-tourism plays a crucial role in conservation, especially in emerging wildlife destinations like Dudhwa and Pilibhit Tiger Reserves. During our journey, we facilitate engaging discussions on how responsible tourism supports conservation efforts while creating sustainable livelihoods. In a densely populated state like Uttar Pradesh, where human-wildlife coexistence is a challenge, protecting these critical habitats is essential—not only for wildlife conservation but also for providing local communities with employment opportunities.
