About the Tour
With a dramatic landscape of plateaus, gorges, and waterfalls, Panna sets up the stage with its enchanting beauty for wildlife enthusiasts and as well as photographers. Located in Panna and Chhatarpur districts of Madhya Pradesh, this national park is 542.67 sq. km. of lush, uncharted territory. Once on the verge of losing its entire tiger population, Panna has roared back with one of world’s most successful tiger reintroduction programme.
Although the main attraction is the tiger, you must also keep your eyes out for leopards, sloth bears and even the striped hyena!
Highlights
- One of the very few places where one gets to experience three types of habitats at a single location – wetlands, woodlands, and grasslands.
- Panna is home to the native Pardhis, who were hunters by profession with an innate sense of reading the jungle
- Panna was once regarded as the only diamond mine in the world
- A great place to observe 6-7 species of vultures
The Footloose Factor
Walk with Pardhi activity at Panna is designed by Last Wilderness Foundation, and it offers travellers an opportunity to venture out a unique walking trail led by the Pardhi tribe. Once hunters, the Pardhis now work as conservationists, sharing their deep knowledge of the jungle, tracking techniques, and wildlife behaviour. This immersive experience helps participants understand the forest through the eyes of the Pardhi community, highlighting their transformation from hunters to protectors of wildlife.
