IMPACT
At Footloose Journeys, eco-tourism goes beyond exploration - it’s about giving back to nature and the communities that protect it.
Over the past decade, we have actively contributed to wildlife conservation, sustainable tourism, and local livelihoods, ensuring that our journeys leave a lasting positive impact. From supporting forest guards and funding conservation projects to empowering tribal communities and promoting responsible tourism, our initiatives reflect our deep commitment to preserving India’s wild spaces. Join us in making travel a force for conservation and community upliftment.
Our Initiatives

Developing community-based experiences with Baiga Tribe
For over a decade, Footloose Journeys has been the only travel company actively integrating the Baiga tribe into eco-tourism at Khatiya village in Kanha. Through collaboration with local coordinators, we have developed an authentic model where travelers engage with Baiga communities – experiencing their traditional knowledge, sustainable living, and deep-rooted forest wisdom. From guided jungle walks to village visits, this initiative not only preserves indigenous culture but also supports local livelihoods, making conservation a shared responsibility.

Inspiring action through eco-tourism – Vehicles for Forest Guards
We empower travelers to become active contributors to wildlife conservation. A young frequent traveler from Pune, inspired by our eco-tourism initiatives, raised funds by selling his wildlife photography calendars and his efforts resulted in the donation of two motorbikes to forest guards at Pench Tiger Reserve, enhancing their mobility and protection efforts. By nurturing awareness and responsibility, we help transform passion for the wild into tangible conservation impact.

Conservation conversation with Forest Department
We believe that conservation thrives on collaboration. As part of our urban awareness initiative, we hosted a Madhya Pradesh Forest Department officer in Pune, facilitating his interactions with educational institutes, wildlife tourism stakeholders, and citizens. These sessions provided valuable insights into ground-level conservation efforts, challenges faced by forest officials, and the role of responsible tourism. By fostering direct dialogue, we strive to build stronger connections between urban communities and conservationists, ensuring a more informed and engaged approach to wildlife protection.

Help for forest martyrs at Nagzira
In the summer of 2021, a devastating forest fire in Nagzira claimed the lives of three brave forest fighters who died protecting the jungle. In response, Footloose Journeys mobilized its community, raising funds to support the families of these forest martyrs. Just as during the pandemic, our travelers, aware of the sacrifices made by forest protectors, came together to offer financial aid and solidarity. This initiative reaffirmed our commitment to giving back to those who dedicate their lives to conservation.

Inspiring action through eco-tourism – Winter wear for Forest Guards
We believe that eco-tourism should spark action! Our knowledge-sharing efforts inspired two young travelers from Hyderabad to launch a wildlife conservation fundraiser, raising INR 2,00,000 by selling calendars featuring their own wildlife photography. With our guidance – from conceptualizing the project to distributing winter gear for forest guards at Pench Tiger Reserve – we turned inspiration into impact. By fostering responsibility among travelers, we ensure that conservation extends beyond safaris, creating a community of changemakers for India’s wild spaces.

Awareness for wildlife conservation in urban areas
Spending countless hours in the wild has given us a deep understanding of conservation challenges, and we believe it is s our responsibility to spread awareness regarding the same. We proactively conduct sessions in schools, colleges, and corporate offices, educating urban audiences about tiger conservation in India. Our key message is simple – nature conservation starts at home. Even small, eco-friendly lifestyle changes can create a ripple effect, helping protect tigers and their habitats for future generations.

Fund raising during Covid-19 pandemic
When tourism came to a halt during the Covid-19 pandemic, safari guides, jeep drivers, and forest guards across India lost their livelihoods. While help reached popular reserves, offbeat jungles like Nagzira and Panna were overlooked. Footloose Journeys stepped in, mobilizing its community of travellers to raise INR 1,50,000 for those in need. Our consistent efforts to educate travellers about the vital role of jungle stakeholders fostered empathy, ensuring swift support for those who protect our forests even in the toughest times.

The Baiga Trails
Ashish Kachhwaha, a self-taught, national award-winning painter, has dedicated his art to portraying the Baiga tribe’s deep connection with nature. Living in Kanha National Park, he uses his paintings to highlight sustainability and indigenous wisdom. Recognizing his work’s impact, we hosted him in Pune in November 2016, organizing an exhibition to provide him with a platform to share his message. This initiative helped raise awareness about Baiga traditions, reinforcing the importance of art in conservation storytelling.
