About the Tour
A mixed deciduous forest with occasional occurrences of Sal trees, Bandhavgarh is a blend of natural beauty and ancient ruins. Standing tall in the middle of the jungle, is the Bandhav-garh. This fort overlooks the entire jungle like a majestic watch tower. The park boasts the highest density of tiger population in India. Tigers, leopards, and an array of other creatures have made this timeless sanctuary their home. Bandhavgarh invites you to explore its breathtaking landscapes and marvel at the delicate balance between its rich wildlife and ancient past.
Highlights
- The Indian Gaur, which became locally extinct in 1998, was successfully reintroduced in 2012 after a few individuals from Kanha National Park were lifted and trans-located to Bandhavgarh.
- Bandhavgarh has been the private hunting ground of the Royal Family of Rewa, later turned into a National Park.
- The popular white tiger – Mohan – was found by the then ruler of Rewa in 1951 while on a hunt
